John Reed

Hi, I'm John Reed

I am a pro-life, pro-second amendment, fiscally responsible, patriotic, Hoosier, Republican, with Christian, constitutional, and conservative values and a deep sense of gratitude for what generations before us have left us in this wonderful state of Indiana. As husband to Lauren and father to our five children, I want to ensure that our state continues to be the best place in the nation to worship, work, and raise a family!

Where I Stand

My message to you as a voter of District 58 is this -- as your representative in the Indiana House of Representatives, I will champion the following --

Pro-Life and Traditional Family Values

I am honored to be the sole candidate in this race endorsed by the Indiana Right to Life. In a time when human life is treated recklessly across our nation, I will be your voice to stand for the lives of every human being— the unborn, the elderly, and everyone in between. I stand unashamedly for traditional family values. These values have been the foundation of American society, and any effort to erode them must be opposed.

Pro-Second Amendment Freedoms

As a gun-owner myself, I firmly believe in the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. This freedom provides for our self-defense, while also serving as the timeless deterrent to tyranny. I will never countenance any effort to deny our citizens that freedom.

Lower Taxes

I will work to ease the burden of the taxpayer by collaborating with local governments to ensure government efficiency, careful spending, and cutting taxes wherever possible. We need real solutions to the property tax question, so that taxpayers can find relief in a way that still allows local governments to have the resources they need to plow the roads, pay the police and firefighters, and run local government efficiently.

Balanced Budget

Over the past two decades, Indiana has become an example of the success that comes from a balanced budget and fiscal responsibility. This keeps government efficient, protects us from fraud schemes, and maintains the taxpayers’ trust. I will always fight to make sure this continues!

Law and Order

As a family member of law enforcement personnel and first responders, I understand the need to support our police and firefighters, ensuring that they have the funding, training and resources that they need to do their jobs. I want the stiff prosecution that we have in Johnson County to be present in Marion County, so that residents in District 58 do not suffer from crime overspill.

Traditional Education

As an educational professional, I understand the place that education plays in the success of our society. I will fight for education in our schools that focuses on the traditional disciplines of good history, science, reading, writing, and arithmetic. I will fight for teachers to have the pay and the resources that they need, while empowering parents to make the best choice for their child’s education, whether that is public school, technical school, home school, private school, or charter school.

Easy Access

As your representative, I want to work for you! I will ensure that I and my team are accessible to the voters of District 58, through a variety of modes of communication. This will allow every citizen in the district to be actively involved in his or her government. My pledge to voters is that I will not be controlled by special interest groups but will diligently address the various concerns of the taxpayer.
